With this poster, I focused on the unique stylistic qualities of the letter E as my main focus since it was the most unique letter to me. Also, it showed a great example of the x-height and high-waisted capital letter. For color choices, I decided to use similar colors that were very popular from the Post Modern period, which were red, blue and yellow, but added a splash of turquoise to the background of the main poster to stand out from afar. In my design, I added circles and lines to generate movement around my poster and to keep all the information balanced.
Designed this magazine spread by using the stylistic qualities that Tanaka used in his body of work. I decided to use similar shapes from one of his other posters and spread them across the background. The theme or style of my work is very retro or 90’s and gives off a playful energy to it. For the text, I used a nice san-serif font and white for the color because I knew it would show great contrast to the black background.
M IS FOR MUSICIAN
For this project, I designed the letter M to symbolize the word “Musician”. By using Adobe Illustrator, I designed the letter M using a bold font and simple shapes and gradient colors to give the M debth. For the Z-Book pages, I chose six of my favorite R&B musical artist. I chose three male and three of my favorite singers. On each page, I described a bit of background history about each artist and how they contributed to the musical industry as an R&B artist.
